No one likes a messy home, right?! Right?!
Which is why I’m sharing 5 of my simple tips to declutter and organize your home!
Watch the video here:
Here are my simple tips:
1: Do a walk-through of your house with a trash bag in hand
Place anything and everything that you don’t need anymore, is broken, or isn’t nice enough to donate or sell into the trash bag. Get rid of everything you don’t need or use – all this stuff is just taking up space and causing your house to look cluttered.
2: Start off small, if you’re overwhelmed
Do room by room. Space by space. You don’t have to clean you entire home at once. Start off with one room and move-on to the next!
3: Start with areas you can see first
What’s the point of cleaning your closet if your bedroom is a mess? Start with areas you can see first and then work on the hidden areas
4: Get rid of the duplicates
You don’t need them and they’re just taking up space! Get rid of clothes that are the same, nail polish that’s the same color (points at you!), items that serve the same purpose (like multiple house-shoes)
5. Have an ongoing donation box in your closet.
Any time you come across something you don’t like, doesn’t fit, you’re just ready to let go of, etc. put it straight in your donation box. When the box gets full, drop it off at your local Goodwill®! The easier you make it to get rid of the clothes, the more likely you will follow through and clear the clutter from your closet!
Find the Goodwill® closest to you: https://www.goodwill.org/locator/
When you shop and donate at the Goodwill®, you’re helping the environment AND your community!
5: Make the home smell good
You want scents to match the room. If you have lit candle that smells like fresh field of strawberries but your home looks like a hurricane, it doesn’t match up. When you home smells good, you’ll want your want to look good as well!
6: Wear it today
As you’re decluttering your clothes, if you come across something you don’t wear often but are struggling to let go of, make a point to wear the item tomorrow. If you don’t want to wear it tomorrow, when will you want to wear it?
8: Make it easy to organize and declutter
Add lights to dark closets and cabinets, invest in organizers for shoes and purses! Make it easy to organize and declutter your home!
